tororo!

Just a few pictures from my first full day.

The road leading up to the hospital; on my way home. The big rock in the background is Tororo Rock, Tororo's "claim to fame." Haven't climbed it yet but it's on my list!

Tororo district hospital - our lab is on the campus of the hospital.
Feena, one of the two little girls who live with us. She is the daughter of our housekeeper, Agnes. She is absolutely adorable, and has a lot of trouble with the name "Jessica" even though there are two of us!

Tonight is Katie's birthday (she's one of my roommates) and we're going to have a house party. Exciting! Thursday is the big yearly science meeting, and there will be a ton of PIs and residents here from UCSF to listen to the talks. Then on Friday, I go to Cape Town. Next Wednesday, to Durban...and then Saturday back to Kampala, and Sunday back to Tororo. So the next week and a half is absolutely nuts. After that things will settle down! And hopefully I can get some work done and start being a productive member of the lab.

I'm actually updating this from lab, since the wireless here is free. The wireless I use at home I buy by data-usage, so I try to keep that for only email/gchat and skype.

For your reference, I am:
7 hours ahead of EST
8 hours ahead of CST
10 hours ahead of PST

So! More updates soon! I am not feeling well today - I don't have a fever, but something is off. I'm not sleeping well so that might be it. Hopefully I can rally for Katie's party tonight.
